New Trends in Furniture Finishes

Looking at trying something new in your space but don’t really want to spend a fortune? There are a ton of furniture finishes that are hot for 2018. You can spruce up your current wood furniture or go hunting for potential pieces at the thrift store. I find that old furniture is usually built well and can really be made into something special. I have taken several pieces and transformed them so that they would fit with my personal design style. But don’t worry if you are not into DIY-- these finishes can be found in most furniture stores. www.houzz.com Cerused Wood Finished:   A technique that has been around for centuries is becoming popular again. This finish uses white pigment to fill in and reveal the unique grain lines of wood. Ceruse was a white lead derivative used as a cosmetic in the Victorian Era. It was highly toxic on human skin but cabinet makers used it to fill the porous open grain of oak planks. In Great Britain, it is known as “Limed Oak."  These days n
