2018 Trending colors for your Front Door

One of the easiest ways to add curb appeal to your home is to paint the front door. It is all a matter of coordinating the color with your home’s existing architecture and color palette. Choosing a color that works with what your home already has is key to a quick spruce up. Such a small change but it can add a lot of personality.

Make sure to choose an outdoor paint developed for your door type. Gloss or semi-gloss are the sheen’s that will stand up to nicks and scrapes. Also using a gloss or semi-gloss will help show off your bolder color choices.

1. In the moment- Behr’s color of the year for 2018, In the moment is a versatile blue/green/grey hue that will blend seamlessly with the gray trends that have been popular. It is a calm, soothing tone that will work well on interiors and exteriors. In the picture you can see how the color works especially well with whites and creams. This color will work also work well with a grey color palette.

Fresh Apple
2. Fresh Apple- In March Behr chose a fresh and vibrant green as their color of the month. Fresh Apple is a vivid yellow-green that will create a welcoming environment for your quests, even before they enter your home. “Both elegant and cheery, this green evokes a sense of intrigue and excitement noticeable from the curb.” Shown in the picture with light grey siding, this color would also pair well with creams or even darker greys or navy.


3. Caliente- Benjamin Moore chose a bold, energetic color for the 2018 color of the year. Caliente is deep saturated red that is Hot, Hot, Hot. "Strong, radiant and full of energy, Caliente AF-290 is total confidence. It is pleasing, passionate and makes people feel special, like 'red carpet treatment,'" said Ellen O'Neill, Benjamin Moore Director of Strategic Design Intelligence. Sundance Yellow
4.Sundance Yellow- Yellow is sure to set a cheery welcoming tone for your home. This color choice is a bold one that will bring life to your home, and will work with a wide range of palettes. Sundance yellow is bright and bold and is sure to stand out.

5. Indigo- Sherwin Williams has this Blue that is almost Navy but has much more depth. Though not a typical color for a front door in the past, dark blues can really add a lot of drama to your entryway. This color has warm gray undertones and will work well with greys, beiges and creams. Depending what you pair this color with, Indigo (SW Indigo 6531) can be rich and classic or fun and fresh.
